Learnr is on a mission to revolutionise the way you find a driving instructor and book your driving lessons. We partner with the best driving instructors in your area – from driving instructors working for big driving schools all the way to independent driving instructors.
Learnr provides you with the fastest & most convenient way to book a driving instructor. As we only partner with the very best instructors, you can also have peace of mind that you’ll pass your test in the shortest possible time.
Our founders initially had the idea for an app after finding it difficult to find their own driving instructor when learning to drive. After founding the company in 2019, the concept quickly grew from there and the founders made it their personal mission to make it as easy as possible for learner drivers to find & book their ideal driving instructor. It doesn’t just stop there though – we have big future plans to make the app even better which we are already working on!
Learnr is a mobile application that allows you to view, compare and book DVSA-Approved driving instructors directly from your smartphone. Once you have downloaded the app, a simple postcode search will show you all available driving instructors in your area. All you need to do is pick your favourite one!
Enter your pickup location in the Learnr App, then tap on ‘Search Instructors’ to view all available driving instructors in your local area. We’ll only ever show you driving instructors that cover your area and have availability to book straight away.
You will be able to view your upcoming driving lessons from the Learnr App homepage. Tap on the scheduled driving lesson you would like to edit and then tap on ‘cancel lesson’. Keep in mind that there is a 48 hour cancellation policy applicable. If you cancel within 48 hours, you may not be eligible for a refund so best to check with us directly in those cases.
Once you have made a booking through the Learnr App, your driving instructor will reach out to you directly to introduce themselves. If you need to speak with your driving instructor urgently, then please email us at hello@mylearnr.co.uk or call us directly on 020 4538 4063 to discuss your query. We will either process your request or put you in touch with your driving instructor.
Yes you can! Tap on the upcoming lesson you would like to edit from the Learnr home screen and then tap on the pick-up point to edit your address. Keep in mind that the updated address needs to be within your driving instructor’s coverage area.
Of course! Although it will depend on the preference of your chosen driving instructor. It is quite common that a driving instructor might prefer you to start learning to drive in their car to ensure your safety through the use of dual control pedals. Once your driving instructor deems that your driving is safe enough they may be happy to teach you in your own car. Do reach out to us at hello@mylearnr.co.uk or call us directly on 020 4538 4063 if you need more information.
Of course! The Learnr App allows you to refine your search for driving instructors based on a number of criteria including: Gearbox type, vehicle type, pricing, gender & many more.
Absolutely, all driving instructors on the Learnr App are required to instruct to a high standard and meet all legal requirements to safely provide driving lessons. It is a requirement for any driving instructor on the Learnr platform to provide their approved driving instructor certificate (as provided by the DVLA), proof of insurance & CRB check. We also check the driving instructor’s grade and carefully monitor feedback from pupils to ensure we only present you with the very best driving instructors available.
Driving instructors are currently in high demand due to a number of reasons but mainly due to the driving test backlog caused by Covid-19. Consequently, a large number of driving instructors have had to implement long waiting lists for accepting new pupils. However, there are always driving instructors that have immediate availability based on their own circumstances. To save you time, the Learnr App will only show you driving instructors that are available to book. Fully booked or unavailable driving instructors will not show up on the Learnr App.
With Learnr, all driving instructors set their own prices based on a number of factors. However with options to suit any budget, prices can start from as little as £28/hour.
Driving instructors on the Learnr App offer a variety of packages and pricing options. However buying lessons in bulk is going to be your best option when it comes to getting the best value. Driving instructors typically offer a free lesson with the purchase of a 10-hour bundle, but best to check directly from the app. You can also use our custom filters to sort instructors based on their hourly rate.
Keep in mind that getting a driving instructor with the cheapest hourly rate doesn’t necessarily mean that you’ll spend less money on your driving lessons overall. An experienced driving instructor will be able to instruct and communicate more effectively which means that you might not need as many hours to pass your test.
According to the DVSA, the average learner will need 47 hours of private tuition with a driving instructor in addition to 20 hours of practice with family and friends. Keep in mind that this is just the average. Some learners will take longer and some will pass much faster.
This comes down to two main factors – how quickly you’re able to learn & absorb information but most importantly the quality & experience of your driving instructor.
Once you have chosen your ideal driving instructor, you’ll need to buy a lesson or a bundle before scheduling your first driving lesson. You can view pricing options by tapping on the ‘pricing’ tab when viewing a driving instructor’s profile. Once you have purchased your first lesson or package, tap on ‘Book Lesson’ from the Learnr homepage to schedule your first lesson.
If you have a practical driving test within the next 7 days and you need a driving instructor to take you to your test, please call us to discuss your enquiry.
If you are already learning with a Learnr Driving Instructor, they will be able to make themselves available for your practical driving test providing you are able to give them sufficient notice. Your Learnr Driving Instructor will be able to help you book a practical driving test should you require assistance with that.
Our priority is to offer a safe & comfortable learning environment for new drivers to learn. All driving instructors on the Learnr App go through a strict vetting process to ensure quality & safety for learner drivers. The process includes checking the driving instructor’s ADI certificate (ADI Certificate is a qualification provided by the DVSA which is required to legally instruct learners to drive), CRB Check, Instructor Grade & the instructor’s insurance documents to ensure all is in order. We also speak to learner drivers on a regular basis and actively remove driving instructors that provide an unsatisfactory service.
As we place such a strong emphasis on customer experience, our founders deal with all complaints directly to find a fair resolution for all parties. Queries or questions are typically dealt with on the same-day and we can be reached via telephone, email or chat through our website.
Driving instructors on the Learnr App can arrange pretty much any type of driving lessons you may require. This includes refresher lessons for existing drivers, beginner courses, advanced driving courses, PassPlus, motorway driving, intensive driving courses & many more.
It can sometimes happen that driving instructors might be slightly late for a lesson (due to delays with their previous lesson, traffic etc..) however they will notify you accordingly. If for whatever reason the driving instructor does not show up, you will be provided with a full refund.
Once you have created a Learnr account, you’ll have an option at the bottom of the Learnr home screen to share your profile with friends. This will provide you with your own referral code that you can then share with your friends. Your friend will be prompted to enter a referral code when creating an account and you’ll earn £20 credit after they’ve booked their first lesson. This will then be deducted from your next purchase on the Learnr App. Oh, and don’t cheat! We will know if you create multiple accounts.
We know it can be daunting to go ahead and book your driving instructor for the first time. We also want to make sure you have the best possible experience learning to drive with us. This is why we offer a full refund guarantee on your first lesson (up to a maximum value of £40) if you are not satisfied with your chosen driving instructor.
Simply contact us by email, telephone or chat within 24 hours of your lesson taking place and let us know what happened. We’ll then immediately credit your Learnr account with a full 100% refund and help you to book another driving instructor.
The Refund Guarantee is only applicable on your first driving lesson booked through the Learnr App and may only be claimed once. You will not be eligible for the Refund Guarantee for any subsequent bookings. This does not affect other terms and you will not be eligible for a refund due to your own negligence or non-compliance of any other terms which have been read and agreed by you on creation of your Learnr Account.
Get in contact with us if you are having any problems with your driving instructor. We will swiftly investigate the issue and find a suitable resolution for all parties. If you are not satisfied due the instructor’s own shortcomings or negligence (for example if the instructor fails to show up) we will still provide a refund accordingly.
Be Respectful – Your driving instructor is there to help and support you to pass your driving test. With this in mind, we ask that you treat your instructor with respect. This means being courteous and polite with your instructor and also listening to their directions. For example do not use your phone during a driving lesson and give your instructor your full focus & attention.
Be Safe – We understand mistakes can happen as a learner driver but you should refrain from dangerous driving, creating hazardous situations and any threats to a person’s safety. This is to protect yourself, your driving instructor and other road users.
Be Reliable – Things can come up where you may have to cancel your driving lessons but it is important to keep your instructor informed and not cancel your lessons last minute. A last-minute cancellation is awkward for your instructor as ultimately they do not get paid if they are not teaching a lesson. Driving lessons that are cancelled without providing 48 hours notice may not be refunded to you.
Fraud – Fraudulent activity undermines the trust that we have built with our community. Committing fraud is a criminal offence. We have a number of measures in place to monitor fraudulent activity from learners, as well as from our driving instructor partners. If an account is found or suspected to be engaging in fraudulent activity, we will take action which may result in:
How we investigate potential infringement
If we are made aware of a customer who is acting in breach of these guidelines, we will investigate the report before taking any action on the account. These investigations are always led by someone on our team, and customers will always be notified if we decide to take any action.
Be Respectful – Treat pupils how you would like to be treated. Learning to drive can be challenging for learners so it’s important to treat each learner with patience and respect. This will help the pupil feel more comfortable, enhance their learning experience and encourages mutual respect.
Be Reliable – We understand that sometimes your day might not go according to plan. However, turning up late or failing to show up for a lesson on a regular basis creates a negative experience for the learner and negatively affects the pupil’s perception of Learnr. Partners that breach this rule on a regular basis will be removed from the platform.
Be Safe – Yours and the pupils’ safety should be your top priority. When instructing a lesson you should stay vigilant and make sure at all times that whoever is in control of the vehicle is driving safely and following the relevant road safety and traffic laws.
Be Committed – All driving lessons must be fulfilled to the exact duration requested by the learner. If an instructor is late to a lesson, then the lesson should either finish later to account for the lost time or the instructor should make an arrangement with the pupil that works for both parties.
Be Honest – It is important for the pupil that any feedback provided is honest and respectful. This allows learners to gain an insight into their capabilities and helps them prepare for their test. You should communicate with the pupil honestly at all times, and let them know when they are ready for their test or whether they will need more time.
Communicate Clearly – Your pupils will look to you for advice and guidance, so how you communicate is very important. Typically when a pupil requests to change their instructor, it’s usually down to their communication skills. We want all pupils to have a fantastic learning experience and our driving instructor partners play a critical role in making this happen.
